Ruby V. Sherling

Ruby V. Sherling, age 92, of Oroville passed away July 11, 2008 at her home.

She was born July 15, 1915 in Fairfield, Mo. to Evan and Cora Colbert. Ruby came to Washington State from Missouri in 1919 to the Tunk Creek area, moving to Omak in 1923. She went to school Omak.

Ruby was married to Ralph Williams on Aug. 26, 1933 and they had one daughter and one son. In 1946 she married Tom Partlow and they had one son. On Nov. 22, 1948 she married Ernest Sherling. No children were born of this union.

Ruby cooked for sawmill workers in Nespelem while married to Ralph. She sorted apples for Heavy Pack for 33 years. Ernest and Ruby moved to Oroville in 1958. Ruby loved gardening, sewing, yard sales, the senior center and John and Joy Lawson’s band. She was a member of the Oroville Senior Center, Molson Grange for 59 years and the Seventh Degree National Grange.

Ruby is survived by her daughter, Darlene (Henry) Allen of Oroville and Spokane; a daughter-in-law, LaVina C. Williams of Lyle, Wash.; her sisters: Letha Melton of Spokane, Betty Grigsby of Spokane and Velma Hill of Oroville; her sister-in-laws: Lavora Colbert and Carol Colbert, both of Spokane; nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Evan and Cora Colbert; husbands: Ralph Williams, Tom Partlow and Ernest Sherling; brothers: Lloyd, Marvin, Melvin, Orin and David Colbert; sisters: Eleanor Anderson and Retha Colbert; sons: Lynn Williams and David Partlow; and a grandson, Todd Ernest Williams.

No services will be held. Interment will be held at the Tunk Valley Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Oroville Senior Center, P.O. Box 31, Oroville, WA. 98844 or the Molson Museum c/o Mary Louise Loe, 915 Nine Mile Rd., Oroville, WA. 98844.
