CASHMERE – The Tonasket High School softball team lost three games last week on the road.

On Tuesday, April 19, the Lady Tigers lost in Chelan 16-0.

“We played alright,” Head Coach Tim Cork said. “The pitcher for Chelan was on top of her game and we never got any momentum going.”

On Saturday, April 23, the Lady Tigers lost both games of a doubleheader in Cashmere. The team lost their first game 10-0 and their second game 4-3.

“I thought the second game against Cashmere was the best game we’ve played in three years,” Cork said. “Here’s why: all of the girls contributed, freshmen through seniors. We made great plays in the field, we got on base and caused them to make mistakes, our pitcher threw her heart out and the most important thing of all: we had a fantastic time while we were doing it. Girls were smiling, high-fiving, hustling, showcasing their talents, exploring their skills and abilities and having a great time doing it. I was very proud to be their coach.”

Sophomore Rylee Fewkes pitched six innings and Cork said she pitched a great game. Cork said freshman Amber Monroe hit a double and freshman Amanda Johnson had a clutch hit in the sixth inning.

As of press time, the Lady Tigers (0-9, 3-11) had not yet played at home against Omak on Tuesday, April 26. They will next play a doubleheader against Cascade at home on Saturday, April 23 beginning at 11 a.m.

“Cascade is a tough team and we’ll have to play well to stay with them,” Cork said.
