Jennieve ‘Jennie” Jennings Ramos of Oroville passed away Friday, Jan. 30, 2009 at the Harmony House in Brewster, after an extended illness.
She was born May 11, 1927 in Fond du Lac, Wis. In 1933 the family moved to Springfield, Mo. In 1941, she married Wilbert Jennings in Springfield. In 1942, Jennie came to Oroville. She was on one of the first trucks that was sent to Missouri from Oroville to get apple pickers. Jennie often said that was quite a trip. Jennie worked in all types of the apple industry: thinning, picking, sorting, spraying and a good many years at the Valley Evaporating Company.
Her husband, Wilbert, preceded her in death in 1980. She married David Ramos in 1982 and for the next 27 years, what else but raising apples? She made a full circle in the apple industry. Jennie touched many lives, she was always the rock of the family, never met a stranger, loved life, her flowers and her beloved cat, Cinderella. She will be missed by all who knew her. Jennie was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America.
She is survived by her husband, David Ramos of Oroville; one sister, Juanita Krusoff of Oroville; four generations of nieces and nephews and she had a hand in raising a good many of them.
Jennie was preceded in death by her mother and father, Jack and Hazel Pittsley; four brothers: Manford, Robert, William and Delbert; and three sisters: Almeda Kitterman, Helen Seyler and Evelyn Lavin.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 6, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Oroville with Rev. Robert Campbell, officiating. Interment will follow at the Oroville Riverview Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Thursday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Bergh Chapel in Oroville, Memorials may be to the charity of choice.
