Frank E. Lytle, Winnemucca, Nev., died peacefully at home on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010.

Born April 11, 1938 in Powell, Wyo., and raised in Casper, Wyo., he began his long mining career in the late 1950s in Green River, Wyo., working underground in the soda ash mines. Frank went on to become Western Regional Materials Manager for Stauffer Chemical Company in Salt Lake City. In 1983, he took a position with Echo Bay Mines in Round Mountain, Nev., and later became the Materials Manager for North America for Echo Bay Mines. In 1992, he went to work for Battle Mountain Gold in Denver, Colo., and then moved to Oroville to help implement the start up of the Crown Jewel Mine. In 1997, Frank returned to Nevada to the Midas Minesite for Franco-Nevada Corp. In 2001, Frank retired his hard hat and steel-toed boots and moved to Winnemucca, Nev., where he made his home for the past 10 years with his wife, Fay. After his retirement he continued consulting for various mines in the area. He also enjoyed working in his wood shop, crafting special projects for family and friends.

Preceding him in death were his wife Norma Lee; and three brothers: Ken, Bob and Steve Lytle.

He is survived by his wife, Fay Vinson of Winnemucca, Nev.; his daughter and son-in-law, Sheri and Mark Barlow of Round Mountain, Nev.; his son, Mark Lytle of Athens, Ga.; his grandchildren: Ben and Erin Barlow of Reno, Nev.; his brother and sister-in-law, George and Teresa Lytle of Green River, Wyo.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Genesis Home Health Services, 8 E. Haskell Street, Ste. C, Winnemucca, NV 89445. A private memorial service will be held at a later time.
