Sonny Didra, age 85, of Loomis died April 19, 2011 at North Valley Extended Care in Tonasket.
He was born February 26, 1926 in Tonasket to Sam and Hilda (Utt) Didra. Sonny grew up in Tonasket and served his country in the Army during WWII. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Tonasket and began logging for Charlie Atchison. On June 30, 1948 he married JoAnn Lamb in Okanogan. Sonny worked as a rancher for a number of years and in 1953 he moved to Loomis and started Sonny’s 66 Service, which he operated for 40 years. Sonny loved being in the mountains, especially snowmobiling. He traveled countless miles grooming and making snowmobile trails. He was the first guy on the mountain and the last one out. Sonny was an advisory to the Butte Buster Snowmobile Club as well as a member of the Community Club in Loomis.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn of Loomis; son, Dan (Carol) Didra of Oroville; brother, Vic (Arlene) Didra of Tonasket; grandchildren Pat and Michael Call and five great grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Loomis Mount View Cemetery with John Newton officiating. Memorials may be made to the Loomis Fire Department. Please sign the online guest book at www.berghfuneralservice.com
