TONASKET – The boys’ soccer team lost two games at home in their second week of season play.
On Tuesday, March 24, the team lost to Brewster 8-0.
“We didn’t execute fundamentals very well but they showed a lot of heart, even when they were shut out,” Chris Field, head coach, said. “We just didn’t do basic things as well as we should have.”
Field said that freshmen Enrique Ortega and Jared Stedfelt did really well.
“It’s their first year of high school soccer and you always worry when they step in high school from rec. play but they’re doing just fine,” he added.
On Thursday, March 26, the team lost at home against Oroville 5-0.
“Our biggest thing right now is we’re not doing some basic things right,” Field said. “Hopefully, with a week off, we’ll start to improve and do basics right again.”
The away game against Cashmere on Saturday, March 28 was postponed due to Tonasket only having eight players. Field said players were gone for numerous reasons.
The Tigers next game isn’t until after spring break, on Tuesday, April 7 when they’ll play at home against Cascade.
“We’re struggling right now and hopefully we’ll turn it around in the next week and get back to playing how we know we can play,” Field said.
