WINTHROP – The Tonasket girls’ soccer team ended last week with a loss to Liberty Bell after losing to Okanogan earlier in the week.

On Tuesday, Sept. 29, the Tigers lost at home to Okanogan 2-0.

“We played good. It was a tough game but we held in there,” Darren Collins, head coach, said. “Okanogan didn’t score their two goals until the last ten minutes of the game. It sounds like they’ve been competing with Cashmere and Cascade so I was just glad to keep it close.”

Junior goalie Stefanie Brunell said she thought the offense played really well against Okanogan.

“I think we will improve and I’m looking forward to our next game against Okanogan,” she said.

On Thursday, Oct. 1, the Tigers lost away against Liberty Bell 6-0.

“We did alright,” Collins said. “We were missing a couple of key players. We seem to have a tough time with a wet ball, but the girls played good.”

Collins said the team is looking forward to their second game against Chelan this weekend. As of press time, the Tigers (1-5-0, 3-6-1) had not yet played at home against Cascade on Tuesday, Oct. 6. Their next game is away against Chelan on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 11 a.m.
