SPOKANE – After beating the Okanogan Bulldogs earlier in the week, the Tonasket wrestling team traveled to Spokane for the Dream Duals Tournament, where they didn’t fair as well.

On Thursday, Jan. 21, the Tigers beat the Bulldogs 57-23 in Okanogan.

“We had pins from Jared Stedtfeld at 103 pounds, Riley Buzzard at 135 pounds, Lee Leavell at 145 pounds, Andrew Grillo at 160 pounds and Keegan McCormick at 171 pounds,” Dave Mitchell, head coach, said. “We also had a 9-4 decision from Peter Williams at 140 pounds. We received forfeits at 112 pounds for Ryker Marchand, 125 pounds for Brendon Brereton and 189 pounds for Corey McCrarey.”

On Saturday, Jan. 23, the Tigers competed at the Dream Duals Tournament in Spokane despite missing several team members due to sickness.

“We lost to Orting, Lakeside and Montesano,” Mitchell said. “McCormick won all three matches, Stedtfeld won two of his matches and Collier Brereton, Williams and Buzzard all won one match. Derek Rimestad did a good job in his varsity matches wrestling up a weight class for one of our sick varsity guys.”

The Tigers finally regular match is at home on Friday, Jan. 29 against Chelan beginning at 7 p.m.
