BREWSTER – The Tonasket boys’ basketball team continued their league losing streak last week with two more losses on the road.

On Tuesday, Jan. 19, the Tigers play in Omak where they lost 68-40.

“Omak used some explosive outside shooting at the beginning and end of the game to open up a nice lead and then put away a game we had closed to 11 points with about five minutes to play,” Glenn Braman, head coach, said.

Braman was referring to Omak scoring 22 points in the first quarter and 24 points in the final quarter. With the Tigers’ scoring per quarter as six, ten, 11 and 13, they only outscored the Pioneers in the second quarter, when they scored 9 points. Junior Colton Ayers led the scoring for the Tigers with 16 points while sophomore John Stedtfeld added 10 and junior Corbin Moser added seven.

On Friday, Jan. 22, the Tigers were beat in Brewster 80-41. After a slow first quarter where Tonasket only scored five points, they scored 12 for each of the remaining three quarters. The Bears, however, scored 15 points in the first quarter, 16 in the second and then 22 in the third and 27 in the fourth.

“Brewster used a 49 point second half to blow the game open, shooting 19-34 in the second half,” Braman said.

Stedtfeld led the Tigers in scoring with 16 points while Ayers had nine and senior Wade DeTillian added five.

As of press time, the Tigers (0-8, 2-14) had not yet played at home against Lake Roosevelt on Tuesday, Jan. 26. Their next game is on Saturday, Jan. 30 in Chelan at 7:30 p.m.
