LEAVENWORTH – With the disagreement over Tonasket’s home victory over Chelan settled, the Lady Tigers now officially have two league wins and are keeping their hopes alive for post-season play.

On Tuesday, Sept. 21, the Lady Tigers played at home against Chelan and the official declared they had won with a Golden Goal. After Chelan contested the win, it was discovered the Goats were supposed to be allowed to have one more shot on goal. This dispute was settled before the Lady Tigers played in Chelan on Tuesday, Oct. 19 when the Goats got their shot on goal and Tonasket goalie Cayla Monroe saved it, giving the Tigers the official win.

After this dispute was settled, the Lady Tigers lost to Chelan 2-1, with sophomore Kelly Cruz scoring the only Tonasket goal.

“We had some great attempts, but it just wasn’t our day,” Darren Collins, head coach, said.

The Lady Tigers then lost to Cascade in Leavenworth on Saturday, Oct. 23 4-0.

“We played well, I would say, against Cascade,” Collins said. “We lost, but we held the score to 4-0.”

When the Lady Tigers played at home against Cascade earlier this season, they lost 10-0.

As of press time, the Lady Tigers, (2-6, 6-5-1) had not yet played at home against Okanogan on Tuesday, Oct. 26. Their final league game will be in Cashmere on Saturday, Oct. 30.

“The girls are looking forward to playing Okanogan again and should do better than the last meeting,” Collins said. “If we can pull out a win this week, we can secure a spot in the post season. If not, we are waiting to see what happens with the Omak-Chelan game on Oct. 30 and we need Chelan to win.”
