Neal went home to the Lord on Nov. 7, 2009 at the age of 57 after battling lung disease and cancer.

Neal Keithley was born in Tonasket on June 13, 1952. Neal was raised in Tonasket graduating from Tonasket High School in 1971. After high school Neal continued to reside in Tonasket. He served in the Washington National Guard from 1971 through 1977 obtaining the rank of Sgt. E-5.

Neal moved to Wenatchee a few years after graduating from high school, being employed at various jobs. Neal met and married his now ex-wife, Julie. Neal began a career as a Driver-Blaster in underground mining. He worked for Asmora Mining, Wenatchee; Independence Mining, Elko, Nevada; Echo Bay Mining, Republic; Stillwater Mining, Nye, Mont.; and Tampko Mining, Alaska. He was a proud member of the mine rescue teams at these mines.

Neal enjoyed life. He loved to water ski and hunt, both deer and pheasant. Neal shot his first deer on Siwash Creek, on property now owned by his sister, Suzanne.

Neal is survived by his daughters: Carissa Keithley and Krystal Keithley, both of Billings, Mont.; His sister, Suzanne Castelda (Roger); His two nephews: Anthony and Rico Castelda; And niece, Shannon Castelda; plus numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.

Neal was preceded in death by his father, Neal Keithley; His mother, Florence Keithley; and sister, Pamela Keithley Newsom.

A memorial will be held at a future date in Montana.
