TONASKET – The Lady Tigers’ volleyball team fell to Omak at home on Saturday, Oct. 16.

The loss came after three sets with scores of 25-20, 25-20 and 25-16. Taylor Ayers made 20 of 22 serves with eight aces and one kill, Jessica Rhoads made eight of eight serves with seven kills, Mackenzie Wheeler made six of six serves and Devan Utt made four kills.

“It was a good battle,” Nellie Kirk, head coach, said. “We came close in the first two sets. Omak controlled the net a little better than we did. It cost us some points. I thought we had better court coverage than some of our other matches. We keep working and improving our skills.”

Rhoads said she thought the team played very well, making many plays they hadn’t been able to make in the past.

“We really worked well as a team to cover the court and keep each other up,” she said. “We played really competitively. We’ve improved a lot and we’re going to continue to.”

The junior varsity team beat Omak in three sets with scores of 25-11, 25-12 and 25-9.

As of press time, the Lady Tigers (0-6, 2-8) had not yet played in Chelan on Tuesday, Oct. 19. They next play in Leavenworth against Cascade on Saturday, Oct. 23 beginning at 3 p.m.
