TONASKET – In their first game after 11 days, the Lady Tiger soccer team beat the Omak Pioneers 9-2 at home on Saturday, Oct. 16.

“I think the girls played really well against Omak,” Darren Collins, head coach, said. “They were talking and passing the ball really well. The girls were ready to go after 11 days off since our last game.”

He said the defense players, Amber Kilpatrick, Megan Rawley, Michelle Timmerman and Elizabeth Jackson, all did really well throughout the game and that goalies Cayla Monroe and Christa McCormick did great and were ready to go.

In the high scoring game, senior Shelby Olma scored three times, sophomore Kelly Cruz scored three times, sophomore Alicia Edwards scored once, junior Ashley Booker scored once and the final goal was scored when the ball bounced off of senior Angela Vaughan and an Omak player to go into the Omak goal. Both Pioneer goals were scored during the first half with the Tigers offensively shutting down Omak during the second half.

“I think the game went really, really well,” Edwards said. “We were all really, really pumped to win and we came out pumped to win. We played at 110 percent. I think the team is really coming together right now and I think we’ll be able to compete with big teams as long as we keep practicing hard and working together.”

As of press time, the Lady Tigers (1-4, 5-3-1) had not yet played in Chelan on Tuesday, Oct. 19, where the disputed outcome of their previous game with Chelan was set to be settled with another shoot-out. They will next play in Leavenworth against Cascade on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 1:30 p.m.
