Clara Isabelle Burton

Clara Isabelle Burton, 81, of Tonasket went to be with the Lord on Jan. 30, 2010 at home surrounded by her family. Clara was born on July 12, 1928 in Washington, Mo., the oldest of twelve children born to Frank and Kathryn Cline.

On Sept. 10, 1948, she married Junior Burton in Warsaw, Mo. They lived in Missouri where they owned and operated various cafes, service stations and farms until 1965. They moved to Tonasket where they owned and operated an apple orchard. Clara also worked at Don’s Drive-In for around 20 years and before retiring she sorted apples at Chief Tonasket Warehouse.

Clara is survived by her husband, Junior at home; their children: Kathy (Tom) Rothrock of Spokane, Linda (Steve) Lorz of Tonasket and Dwight (Peggy) Burton of Tonasket; Grandchildren: Teresa, Chad, Kim, Ken, Lance, Stephanie, Duane and David; and 13 great grandchildren. Clara is also survived by three brothers: Frank, Charlie and Larry; and seven sisters: Evelyn, Goldie, Avis, Irene, Virginia, Francis and Carol.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Harvey; and a grandson, Willie.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, Feb. 5, 2010 11 a.m. at the Bergh Chapel in Oroville with John Jaeger, officiating. Interment will follow at the Tonasket Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Willie Burton Memorial Scholarship Fund at U.S. Bank in Tonasket or a charity of choice.
