Adeline Mastick was born in Victoria, B.C. on Sept. 17, 1913 and lived in Olympia, Wash. for most of her first 94 years. In 2008 she moved to Tonasket to be closer to family. She made many friends while living here and was famous for her hand crocheted “scrubbies,” which she passed around liberally to friends and “soon to be friends” in our area. Adeline was very proud of her independence in spite of her hearing impairment. She got her first computer when she was 88-years-old and loved to e-mail. She had a flawless voting record for 75 years and had lived in and maintained her own home in Olympia for over 76 years.

She passed away on April 24, 2010 at North Valley Extended Care following a fall in her home.

Adeline is survived by sons: Joe Flury (Mary) Grangeville, Idaho, Jack Flury (Leslie) Ostrander, Ohio; daughter, Jane Thompson (Bob) Tonasket; stepdaughter, Lynn Hensiek (Jay) Copalis Beach, Wash.; and her favorite neighbor boy, Emmett Koontz (Diane) Kirkland Wash. She is also survived by many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren.

There will be a gathering in Olympia to celebrate Adeline’s life on Sept. 11, 2010.
