Verlin moved to Oroville at the age of 11. He attended the Oroville Schools and graduated from Oroville High School. He then entered the U.S. Army and served from 1969 to 1971. Verlin worked and retired from the Oroville-Tonasket Irrigation District.

He loved to hunt, fish and hike the mountains looking for wildlife. He spoke often of his friends and family. He was a member of the Oroville Eagles, the Sportsmen’s Club and the Oroville American Legion, Hodges Post #84.

Verlin is survived by his wife, Deborah A. Hicks; children, Shannon and Angela Hicks, Bobby Cordle and Cathy Davis; siblings, Darlene Prince, Marlene Blackburn and James Guss Hicks; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Josephine Hicks and an infant son.

A simple graveside service and memorial will be posted in March for an early April Service.
