OSOYOOS,B.C. – The Tumbleweed Film Festival is bringing the best rated films (and othernew films) from its Oroville film fest to Osoyoos, BC, Sept 22-24.
Dubbedthe Tumbleweed Best of Fest, Nk’Mip resort will host three evening screeningsand one Saturday afternoon family matinee at the Nk’Mip Desert Cultural Centre.Each screening will offer different short films from around the world, as wellas live entertainment from the Desert Cultural Centre and Nk’Mip Cellars willoffer complimentary wine tastings. Attendees will also have an opportunity tomeet a few filmmakers, who will be in attendance at this event.
"We’reexcited to bring this event across the border to make Tumbleweed a trulyinternational film festival," said Geoff Klein, Tumbleweed co-founder."Besides the great opportunity to watch more films and have fun, this is agood way to get the word out in Osoyoos about our annual festival in Oroville,which is every August, and let the folks up there know about some of greatrestaurants, wineries and services that are offered here in town, just a shortdrive from Osoyoos."
Klein added, "We’re also very honored tohave the Osoyoos Indian Band offer Tumbleweed the opportunity to showcase thesefilms at their Desert Cultural Centre. We’re also happy to include many newfilms, including some films by native filmmakers."
The event kicksoff on Thursday at the Desert Cultural Center with a complimentary wine tastingat 5:30 p.m., followed at 6 p.m. with a "Welcoming" ceremony thatwill include storytelling, drumming and dancing. Short films will then begin at8 p.m. There will be complimentary food samples provided by the Desert CulturalCentre, as well as snack platters, popcorn and candy available for purchase.Tickets to the event are $20.
Friday evening offers an evening of romanceand comedy short films at the Desert Cultural Centre, Nk’Mip Cellars willprovide special wine tastings at 7:30 pm and the films will screen at 8 pm.Following the film, attendees are invited to a "night cap" withfilmmakers and drumming at the Centre’s fire pit. The Desert Cultural Centrewill provide complimentary food samples, and there will be snack platters, popcornand candy available for purchase. Tickets for the event are $20.
Saturdayafternoon will offer a Family Matinee, which will showcase many family friendlyfilms from around the world. Adults will also have the opportunity to samplewines at the screening from Nk’Mip cellars. Doors open at the Cultural Centreat 1 pm, with the matinee beginning at 1:30 p.m. Tickets for the matinee are$12. Candy and popcorn will be available for purchase.
Saturday eveningpresents an "Awards" night of short films from around the world.Filmgoers will encounter delightful comedies, thoughtful documentaries, someanimation, a little drama and plenty of twists and turns. Meet some of thefilms’ directors, who will be in attendance for a "Q & A".  Nk’Mip Cellars will begin providing winetastings at 7 pm and the short films will start screening at 7:30 pm. Followingthe films, attendees are invited to a special festival closing ceremony withentertainment, provided by the Desert Cultural Centre! Tickets for the eventare $20. The Desert Cultueral Centre will provide complimentary food samples,and there will be snack platters, popcorn and candy available forpurchase.
