TONASKET – The Tumbleweed Film Festival details were presented during the Tonasket Chamber of Commerce meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 8.

Seattle filmmakers Geoff Klein and Mo Fine presented the details about the film festival stating that last year, the festival was held only in Oroville while this year, four events will be held in seven to nine venues. The festival features independent movies from around the world combined with wineries which are transformed into movie theaters by Klein and Fine, who bring a large screen into the venue along with a projector.

There will be color programs available for the festival this year that will feature ads, coupons and pamphlets for the sponsorship businesses of the festival as this is a nonprofit organization that exists on sponsorships.

“This is a family friendly event with funny movies or light, thought-provoking movies,” Fine said.

Klein told the chamber that the movies are acquired through Without A Box online.

Also during this meeting, the chamber began the early stages of planning for this year’s Founders Day with the schedule for the Rodeo Grounds being announced by Gerry Beeman as Thursday, June 2 being Kids Night at the Rodeo Grounds and Friday, June 3 and Saturday, June 4 being Bulls at the Rodeo Grounds. June 4 will also be the parade through Tonasket.
