TONASKET – The Tonasket School District levy was passing above 62 percent late on the evening of Tuesday, April 27.

With 1,529 votes received as of 8 p.m. on Tuesday, the levy was passing with 955 “yes” votes for 62.46 percent. Just 574 votes were cast “no”, which was a 37.54 percent.

A total of 3,449 ballots came in for this election, which includes the vote for the Town of Twisp emergency medical care and ambulance services levy, the Methow Valley School replacement maintenance and operations levy proposition one and also the capital levy technology and school improvement proposition two for the Methow Valley School District.

As of 8:09 p.m. on Tuesday, there were 365 ballots left to count.

The voter turnout for this election was 49.02 percent from 74 precincts. There are 7,036 registered voters within these precincts.

The next ballot count will be on Friday, April 30 at 5 p.m. and the certification date for these results is Wednesday, May 12.
