OROVILLE – Oroville senior catcher Nathan Thompson was selected by the NCW “B” League Coaches to the First Team All League. Thompson, who batted .419 in the regular season, was a unanimous choice by league coaches.

“He’s probably one of the best catchers in the league,” said Oroville baseball coach Tam Hutchinson.

Also named were senior shortstop Jake Hilstad and junior pitcher Bud Swenson to All League Second Team. First baseman/Pitcher Brandon Funston received All League

Honorable Mention.

“They’re all solid players. Jake is one of the best hitters in the league fundamentally,” said Hutchinson. “Bud is right up there with the top pitchers. He averaged eight strike outs a game. Brandon played real well and I am sure he will make All League next year.”

The seniors, Thompson and Hilstad, were selected to play in the North

Central Washington Senior All Star Game. Hilstad went one for four and played

second base. Thompson caught for four innings and played left field while also

batting one for four. Thompson’s hit came in the seventh inning when he hit a three-run homer over the centerfield fence at Dan White Field in East Wenatchee.
