Spirit of community keeps us here

I want to thank students, parents and the community for their support of Tonasket schools. Tonasket Elementary School had its fifth Family Fun Night on Nov. 29. The night included reading activities sponsored by Tonasket Americorps, Scholastic Book Fair and a family movie. The attendance for this event was at an all time high, with 248 people attending. Thank you for having education as a high priority and making our Family Fun Nights such a huge success.

I would also like to thank the community as a whole for welcoming my family with such open arms. We recently had a little family emergency where we needed assistance from emergency personnel. The response from the community was phenomenal. Thank you to the Tonasket Police and Fire Departments, State Patrol, Sheriff’s Deputies and Tonasket EMS (ambulance service) for their quick responses and assistance. In addition, we had a score of friends, school personnel and community volunteers that turned out to help. I am please to report that our little emergency had a happy ending.

It is that spirit of community that drew us to and keeps us in Tonasket. The definition of awesome is something that leaves you in awe and wonder. The people of Tonasket are AWESOME and they make Tonasket a great community to work, live and raise our children in.
