OROVILLE – Oroville and Liberty Bell had a duel meet on Thursday, Oct. 22 at Lake Osoyoos Veterans Memorial State Park.

“I guess it could be called unofficially a league meet since we are the only two cross country teams in the North

Central Washington B League,” said Hornet Coach Doug Kee.

In the boys’ race Connor Hughes of Oroville and Taylor Woodruff of Liberty Bell battled for the entire three miles,

Hughes finally won by a mere one second with a time of 19:17. In third place was Nolan Jensen of Liberty Bell, fourth Michael Garrett, Oroville; fifth Connor Thompson, Oroville; and sixth Tim Lewis, Liberty Bell.

The girls’ champion was Brita Ness of Liberty Bell with a time of 22:50. Coming in second was Callie

Barker of Oroville and third Nella Kelkka of Liberty Bell.

“The flu bug insured that neither school had a complete team so there were no team scores,” said Coach Kee.
