Oroville Chamber to sponsor business Halloween Costume and Decoration conte

OROVILLE – Oroville’s Chamber of Commerce is inviting businesses to decorate, and encourage their employees to dress up, again this year for Halloween.

The chamber will be awarding certificates for the best costumes and the best decorations, announced Raleigh Chinn at the last Chamber of Commerce meeting. He said he would make sure that everyone who participates gets a chance to be judged by volunteers who will be on the lookout for imaginative costumes and decorations the day prior to Halloween, Friday, Oct. 30.

After a good turnout last weekend, The Great Pumpkin Patch, hosted by RE/MAX Lake and Country with Taber’s Taste of Summer, is scheduled for this Saturday, Oct. 24 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. The event features free pumpkins for the kids to pick at the Taber’s fruit stand just north of the city limits on the west side of Highway 97. In addition to the free pumpkins, there will also be hot dogs and beverages by donations, say organizers. The night before, Friday, Oct. 23, the Haunted Hayride will take place at the same location from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. For more information call Cindy DeVon at (509) 476-4444.

This year’s Halloween on Main Trick or Treat will be held Saturday, Oct. 31 from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m., according to Vivian Taylor, who is organizing the popular event. Businesses are encouraged to participate by staying open and passing out treats to the Trick or Treaters. Those giving out treats to the kids on Saturday will have a special poster hanging on their door or in a window that indicates there are treats inside, according to Taylor.
