OROVILLE – An Oktoberfest celebration to raise money for the new senior center building is planned for Oct. 8 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at 1205 Main Street.

The event, sponsored by the Oroville Senior Citizens organization will feature tastings of local beer and wine, as well as food and crafts vendors.

This is the second annual Oktoberfest and the wineries lined up include Copper Mountain, Okanogan Estate Vineyards, Veranda Beach and Lake Crest. The traditional German beer will be from Oroville’s Alpine Brewery, according to organizer Boni Mathews.

“The event takes place on the grass in the side yard of Okanogan Estate and Vineyards,” said Mathews. “We have two huge tents this year so even if it rains we won’t care.”

Food vendors include German and Mexican foods and Mathews said the seniors are trying to arrange some music to go along with the festivities.
