Lorraine M. Maki, age 85, of Oroville died on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010 at North Valley Extended Care in Tonasket.
She was born on Nov. 19, 1924 in Port Gamble, Wash. to parents Frank and Margaret Babcock. Lorraine worked in the nursing profession for many years and tried to help anyone she could. She helped to begin the Peninsula Advocate for the Mentally Ill, which in now known as the National Advocate for the Mentally Ill. In 2002, she moved to Oroville to be near her son, Glen.
She is survived by two sons: Glen of Oroville and John of Nordland, Wash.; Three daughters: Janet Smith of Spokane, Carol Fezzey of Tonasket and Judy Fike of Poulsbo; And seven grandchildren.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; and one son, Elmer, Jr.
At her request, no services will be held. Memorials may be made to the Northwest Parkinson’s Foundation, the American Heart Association or a charity of choice.
