TONASKET – The annual Tonasket Founders Day Parade, with the theme of Hometown Heroes, will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 4 with a performance by the Seattle Cossacks Motorcycle Stunt Team at the end of the parade.
Judging for the parade begins at 10 a.m., so all participants should begin checking in at 9 a.m. at Wells Fargo Bank to get their line-up number, which they’ll then find on the street, event organizer Kari Alexander said.
Following the parade and the performance by the Cossacks, kids’ games will played at Tonasket Founders Park until 3 p.m. The games will be old fashion water brigade games as well as lawn games, Alexander said. The Tonasket High School winter cheerleaders will be in the dunk tank, with three balls available for $2, while the Tonasket Preschool will be selling snow cones, the Tonasket American Legion will be selling burgers, the cheerleaders will be selling drinks and the Camp Fire Girls will be selling nachos and candy.
There will be street vendors on Third Street between Whitcomb Ave. and Western Ave. and the Community Cultural Center will be having a quilt show all through June.
Alexander said the Tonasket Library will be hosting its annual book sale in Tonasket City Hall.
“There will also be specials as various businesses throughout town as well as lunch specials at the local restaurants,” she added. “The Tonasket Eagles will be having a steak dinner from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.”
