Dorothy Youker

Dorothy was born in England on Sept. 12, 1935. She passed away Sept. 20, 2010 of a triple aortic aneurysm during surgery at Spokane Deaconess Hospital.

She was very active in the Red Hats of Oroville. She loved helping other organizations from coloring eggs for all the children to baking goods for all functions, her cheesecakes were always a big hit as well as her English Trifle and her canning goods. She was Eagles Auxiliary President.

Dorothy enjoyed her life as a realtor and broker and caterer. Her passion was slot machines, playing cards, roulette, cooking and let’s not forget tea, tea tea! She loved knitting for her grandchildren.

She retired to Oroville from Everett after Lewis’ retirement from Alaskan Airlines to be by their favorite lake, Lake Sibley.

During her younger years she was a Girl and Boy Scout leader. She loved working for the country club as well as the Elks she did banquets for and for Wellers Restaurant. Her favorite musicians were Roy Orbison, Johnny Mathis and Patsy Cline. She was loved by everyone who met her. Her laughter and personality will always be missed. She was the kind of mother that all the kids in the neighborhood would want to be at her house every day for dinner. She is a great loss to everyone who knew her, from bikers to governors.

She is survived by her daughters: Beverly Anglin, Debbie Larsen and Trudy Wachvietl, as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband and best friend of 52 years, Lewis Youker and her son, Louie Youker.

A potluck celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held on Oct. 10, 2010 at 3 p.m. at Yo Yo’s Restaurant. Friends and family are invited to share memories and stories of their time with Dorothy. Donations towards funeral costs and hospital bills are appreciated.
