Demo Derby gets ready to rumble in Tonasket

TONASKET – If the sights and sounds of roaring engines and ripping metal are your thing, the Tonasket Demolition Derby is the place to be this Sunday, Aug. 31.

The 2008 Demo Derby takes place starting at 1 p.m. at the Tonasket Rodeo Grounds. There will be five heats with a guaranteed $2450 in prize money, plus a Powder Puff event for the gals.

During the event there are concessions available and a beer garden, according to Gerry Beeman with the Tonasket Comancheros Club.

Admission is $9 for adults, $5 for children six through 12 and children five and under get in free. For entry information call (509) 486-2398 (evenings only).

The derby is sponsored by the Tonasket Comancheros, Les Schwab Tire Centers in Omak and Oroville, Montanye Logging, Weber’s Dirt works, Xtreme Power Sports, Dave Hanna Trans, Columbia Distribution in Wenatchee and McMillan Construction.

Following the Demolition Derby there is a steak feed and live music with Tupelo Bay band at the Tonasket Eagles for all members and guests starting at 8 p.m.
