Bill “Unc” Rotter, age 85, of Tonasket died on Monday, Jan. 25, 2010 in East Wenatchee. He was born on Aug. 28, 1924 in Seattle to parents Benjamin and Margaret Rotter.
Bill grew up in Western Washington and served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a Paratrooper. Following an honorable discharge from the military, he moved to Wenatchee. On Feb. 23, 1948, he married Aubrey Hughes in Wenatchee. In 1950, they moved to Omak and started Hughes Floral with Aubrey’s parents. In 1975, they moved to their current home in Tonasket. Bill enjoyed delivering flowers all over Okanogan County for many years. He also enjoyed the outdoors, especially spending time fishing on any of the local area lakes.
Bill is survived by one son, David Rotter of Yakima; one daughter, Monica Ray of Moscow, Idaho; five brothers: Jim, Bob, Martin, Ray and Mike; three sisters: Carolyn, Marie and Judy; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Aubrey, and two brothers: Ben and Dick.
A gathering for family and friends will be held in the spring.
