Richard Lee (Buck) Hirst age 67 of Chesaw died on Saturday at home. He was born on May 9, 1943 in Tonasket to parents Dick and Ruth Hirst.
Buck was raised in Okanogan County and attended both the Molson and Tonasket Schools, graduating from Tonasket High School in 1962. He served in the Merchant Marines, serving in South East Asia and Alaska. Buck returned to the Oroville area, which he loved, living the last years at the home in Chesaw.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Jane Grey of Anchorage, Alaska; nephews: Erin Grey of Seattle and Matthew Grey of Portland, Ore.; best friend and cousin, Leroy Hirst of Chesaw; and his uncles: Bob Hirst of Oroville and Ted Hirst of Ephrata.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Leonard Marvin Hirst.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2010 11 a.m. at the Chesaw Cemetery with Wynn Schell, officiating.
