CHENEY – Nicole S. DeVon received a double Master’s Degree at the Commencement Exercises held at Eastern Washington University, Saturday, June 14 in Cheney.
Her degrees were in Inter Cultural Communications and Foundations of Education. Her combined grade point average was 3.89 based upon the 4.00 scale. As an undergraduate, she was heavily involved in intercollegiate athletics, president of the campus Parent’s Association, vice president of the student body and has served on the Spokane City Diversity Board and several other student-oriented boards.
DeVon is presently the counselor and student retention officer to the EWU Native American Studies Degree Program. She is a graduate of White Swan High School located on the Yakama Indian Reservation and will continue her studies working toward a Doctorate in Higher Education.
She is the daughter of Don DeVon who retired in 2005 as 1992 National High School Counselor of the Year and 2004 National Indian Education Counselor of the Year. Her father resides in Oroville.
