OROVILLE – Oroville wrapped up their season with a disappointing loss against the Soap Lake Eagles last Friday night.

Things looked like they were going the Hornet’s way when they were the first to points on the board. Oroville went up seven to zero in the first quarter with a touchdown pass from Preston Iverson to Matt Kelly.

“We then held them for four plays and then drove the ball 70 yards to the eight yard line. From there we ran two plays and had it third and goal from the two yard line,” said Hornet Head Coach Tam Hutchinson.

Oroville fumbled and recovered the ball and that made it fourth and three and then they fum-bled again. The Eagles took over on the three and then drove the ball 97 yards for the score to tie the game.

If we had gone 14 to zero they would have folded, instead we had a series of mishaps and just misses… you name it and it went wrong,” said Coach Hutchinson.

The highlight of the game was Caleb Whiteaker’s 88 yard touchdown return of a kickoff,

as well as some fine runs from scrimmage, according to the coach.

“The boys played hard and did some good things,” said Hutchinson.
