Local food banks

TONASKET – The Tonasket food bank operates every Thursday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at 300 S. Whitcomb Ave. Drop-offs can be made at Tonasket Tavern. For more information, call Jack Gavin at 486-2480 or Debby Curren at 486-2459.

Firewise Training

TONASKET – The Okanogan Conservation District, the Department of Natural Resources and the Methow Forest Owners’ Cooperative will be presenting Firewise Training on Monday, Oct. 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the Tonasket High School Commons. This workshop is offered to anyone wishing to learn to assess the wildfire survivability of their home and surroundings. For more information call Laura Clark at (509) 422-0855 ext. 5.

Main Street Trick-or-Treat

OROVILLE – Trick-or-Treating on Main Street in Oroville will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 31 from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. The route will start at Ethyl’s and end at Prince’s. Participating businesses will have “Trick-or-Treat Here” signs.

Flu & Pneumonia shots

OKANOGAN – Okanogan County Public Health will be offering flu & pneumonia shots for adults age 19 and older on Oct. 25, 30, 31 and Nov. 1 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Flu shots are $25 and pneumonia shots are $30; for those who are eligible Medicare will be billed. 4-H Achievement Night

OMAK – The Okanogan County 2006/2007 4-H Achievement Night Program is being held on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 6 p.m. at the Union Hall in Omak (across from the feed store). The 4-H program will be honoring all currently enrolled 4-H members and leaders for all their work during the year. A family dance hosted by the Triple Crown Team 4-H Club, as a fundraiser, will follow immediately after the achievement ceremonies.

Halloween Costume Party

TONASKET – Everyone is invited to a fun-filled Halloween Costume Party at the Community Cultural Center in Tonasket on Saturday, Oct. 27. Enjoy kids games, prizes and more from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. A dance will follow with Reed, John and Friends performing. A dinner will also be served. Fire Commissioner Meeting

Halloween Dance & Costume Party

Fundraiser Auction

TONASKET – Bobbie Jo Vergon will be donating 4 ft. of hair to “Locks of Love” on Nov. 3, 2007 at the Tonasket Eagles. A raffle will be held to see who gets the honor of shaving her hair; tickets will cost just $5 each. Membership Meeting

OROVILLE – The Lake Osoyoos Association, in Oroville, will hold a membership meeting on Thursday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. at The Depot in Oroville to elect officers and hear Mark Peterschmidt, of the Washington Department of Ecology, talk about water testing on Lake Osoyoos. Christmas Bazaar

CHESAW – Knob Hill Home Economics Club of Chesaw is holding their annual Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 3 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Browse goods from homemade items to jewelry and dried flowers. Vendors are welcome, however, we cannot permit outside food and beverages. The Country Kitchen will be open for food, drinks and baked goods. Tables are available for $10. OSCRA Meeting

OMAK – Okanogan County School Retirees Association (OCSRA) will meet at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 26 at the Koala Grill in Omak. This meeting will be followed by an on-site tour of the Omak School remodel.

Christmas Bazaar

OROVILLE – The Oroville United Methodist women will have their annual Christmas Bazaar and Spaghetti lunch on Saturday, Nov. 3.
