Medaine Gates Thomason passed away Dec. 14, 2010 in Ellensburg, Wash. She was born Nov. 16, 1923 in Molson, to Emma and John Gates.
Medaine was raised on a farm in the Chesaw area and attended schools in Molson. On Dec. 4, 1940 she married Everett Thomason of Wauconda. They ranched together in Wauconda until 1966 when they relocated to Moses Lake, but continued summer ranching at Wauconda. They raised three children: Donald Thomason (Jinny) of Moses Lake, Beatrice Fairburn (Wayne) of Ellensburg and Gerald Thomason (Sharon) of Kaysville, Utah. She was always proud to claim the title of ‘a rancher’s wife.’ Her love was always for the animals she raised and watched over. She was a life-long member of the Grange, the Humane Society and a member of the Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Everett; and her four older brothers: Loy, Maurice, Claude and Delvin (Buck).
She is survived by three children; 13 grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren.
After moving to Moses Lake, she spent many years volunteering for the Food Bank and enjoyed winter snowmobiling at Wauconda and other destinations. In 2004, she moved to Ellensburg to be close to her daughter, Bea.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in the spring at Tonasket. Memorial contributions may be made to a local Humane Society.
