North Valley Hospital makes new staff hires

TONASKET – North Valley Hospital hired three new staff members, two in the Rehab department as well as a dietitian.

Speech Therapist Robin Reardon will be working full time for NVH.

“We haven’t had a full time speech therapist in a very long time, so this is a pretty huge deal for us,” said Mikaela Marion, NVH Community Liaison.

Reardon graduated from Ball State University in Indiana with a Masters in Speech Language Pathology in 2000 before moving to San Diego in 2003, where she practiced Speech Therapy, was a Director of Rehab for a Skilled Nursing Facility and an Area Manager for independent therapy contractors.

Reardon said she was excited to move to Oroville for a change to a slower pace of life and to be closer to extended family.

Dr. Dane Person graduated from Saint Augustine’s University with his Doctorate in PT (physical therapy) in 2001. Originally from Colorado, Person has been working in North Carolina.

“Dr. Person will be stationed permanently in Oroville, and we are very excited about this,” said Marion. Person is certified in Manual Therapy, as well as many other specialized areas.

“This puts the NVH Rehab Department at six highly qualified staff members with two Doctors of Physical Therapy, a skilled Massage Therapist, an Occupational Therapist and his assistant, and a Speech Therapist,” said Marion.

Dietitian Sarah Beyler was born and raised in western New York, but has called Seattle home for the past five years, earning her Masters in Nutrition and Dietetics at Bastyr University in Kenmore before completing her dietetic internship in May with Idaho State University in Boise.

“I have a growing interest in diabetes nutrition education,” said Beyler. She also continues to work on mastering a handful of hobbies and skills. “When it comes to mastering a skill, time is the magic ingredient,” Beyler said.

In other NVH news, the opening of the new Sleep Lab has been pushed back from it’s original anticipated opening date of August 8 and is now estimated to be opening at the end of September.
