Suspect in Brewster man's murder captured in California

Nicolas Perez-Patistan, a suspect in the murder of a fellow Brewster man, the day of his arrest in Fresno, Calif. by U.S Marshals and members of the Fresno Police Department on Saturday, Sept. 10.
FRESNO, Calif. – U.S. Marshals and Fresno Police arrested Nicolas Perez-Patistan, a suspect in the beating death and robbery of a Brewster man back in July.
Perez-Patistan, 25, Brewster, was arrested on a warrant for murder in the second degree. Perez was a fugitive who had fled Okanogan County and was wanted on an outstanding nationwide felony arrest warrant for second degree murder, according to Okanogan County Sheriff Frank Rogers.
“Perez is believed to be involved in the beating and subsequent death of Carlos Porras-Trujillo which occurred on July 17, 2011 near Brewster. Carlos Porras-Trujillo was beaten over the head numerous times with a club and his body was dumped in an orchard. It also appeared that Porras-Trujillo had been robbed,” said Sheriff Rogers.
During the investigation the Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office received information that Perez was thought to be in Fresno where he had lived in the past. The Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office contacted the US Marshals Service Eastern District of Washington Joint Fugitive Task Force and requested their assistance in the apprehension of Perez.
“Members of the US Marshals Service Eastern District of California and the Fresno Police Department located Perez in a residential area of Fresno California and arrested him without incident,” said Rogers.
Upon his arrest Perez claimed he was a member of the local Paisa gang in Fresno, according to the sheriff.
“The Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the US Marshals Service, the Fresno Police Department and the local community for their assistance in the investigation,” Rogers said.
The victim was 37-years-old at the time of his death and had previously lived in the Fresno area. Porras-Trujillo is survived by a wife and children in Mexico, according to the sheriff.
