OROVILLE – Julie Schildgen, a teacher at Oroville Elementary, has been chosen as the Upper Okanogan Valley Teacher of the Year by the Wal-Mart Corporation.

Along with honoring Ms. Schildgen with a plaque, Wal-Mart has donated a check for $1,000 to the Oroville Elementary School ASB fund. Schildgen received this honor through a contest run by Wal-Mart Corporation.

Her former students nominated her because of her dedication to teaching and the positive influence she has had on their educational lives. In their words “she taught us the value of education and hard work and, basically, she is the reason we have stayed in school.”

Principal Joe Worsham, who presented her with the plaque said, “All of us at Oroville Elementary School are extremely proud of Ms. Schildgen and feel that she is very deserving of this honor.”
