MOLSON – The 16th Annual Molson Midsummer Festival will take place in and around the Molson School Museum and Molson Grange Hall this Saturday, June 18.Grand Marshals for the event are the well-known John and Juanita “Nita” Myrick, longtime area residents and volunteers. “The community of Molson wishes to invite everyone, young and old, to come to the 2010 Molson Midsummer Festival, the summer fun day has something for everyone,” say organizers.The day starts at 8 a.m. with the all-you-can-eat pancake feed fundraiser at the Grange Hall. While enjoying breakfast people are encouraged to sign up for the “run, walk or shuffle” race. Participants can enjoy seeing the lakes and pick local wildflowers to be used to decorate the Maypole later in the day.A car show takes place near the schoolhouse and later at 10:30 there will be a parade with classic cars, tractors and whatever. Because it is impromptu, say organizers, “almost anything that walks or rolls is encouraged to participate in the parade.”The traditional Maypole to bring in summer is decorated about noon and then the family games follow behind the schoolhouse.”We also want to encourage parents and grandparents, aunts, uncles or any generation with the ‘youngins’ in the team challenge games,” said Elva Helm, one of the volunteer organizers.There will be ongoing music in the hall and the Sitzmark Ski Club will have the lunch concessions again from noon to 3 p.m. Participants are also asked to watch for ongoing drawings and awards and to remember to visit the Old Molson and School House Museums.
