A quorum of the Tonasket City Council may be present at a special meeting Wednesday Aug. 19, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Tonasket City Hall Council Chambers. The meeting is subject to cancellation due to fire activity across the state.
The council will be meeting with Melissa Carpenter, the Governor’s new Eastern Washington representative. The meeting was originally scheduled for Monday, Aug. 17, but had to be rescheduled due to Carpenter’s involvement with fire activity elsewhere in the county.
Carpenter will be accompanied by Michael Guss, the new Executive Director for the NCW Economic Development District; Roni Holder-Diefenbach, Executive Director of the Okanogan County Economic Alliance; and City Planner Kurt Danison.
Carpenter is traveling here to meet people and find out what issues they are concerned about. Issues brought up at last Tuesday’s Aug. 22 city council meeting to be discussed in today’s meeting include the storm water project, highways 97 and 20, tuition reimbursement for the police academy, the city having to pay for audits through the state and the importance of the Tonasket Airport and the road leading up to it.
