TONASKET – Bryan and LaJune Ensz were looking for some additional income and some after-school and summer work for their boys.

After a call from a relative, one thing led to another and the Enszes opened their 1-800-BunkBed business a few weeks ago.

“Bryan’s brother George saw an advertisement on the internet,” LaJune said. “He contacted us, thinking it might be something we’d be interested in.

“Building bunk beds seemed to be something (the boys) would enjoy. It is the type of work they can do, even if their dad isn’t always present to help.”

The Enszes build a variety of models using dimensional lumber. All come with a lifetime guarantee and, LaJune said, “Are built to pass on to the next generation.

“We particularly build bunk beds, but we’ll build any bed the customer desires,” she said. “We make a twin over twin, a twin over full, and have options of storage drawers beneath the bed for a trundle bed. We also build a loft bed, featuring a bed on top, with an empty space or desk below. We’ll deliver and set it up for an additional charge.”

They hope to expand their business to include building furniture for children, as well as household or outdoor furniture.

Bryan and LaJune Ensz moved to Tonasket in 1999 from Inman, Kansas, with what was then two children. Their family now includes sons Ted, age 14; Clark, 12; Alec, nine; Jeremy, seven and daughter Natalie, four, as well as Rex the dog and two cats, Tiger and Tackle.

1-800-Bunkbed is located at the Enszes’ home at 43 Horizon Dr., a few miles west of Tonasket. They can be reached at (509) 486-1929 or 1-800-286-5233. Business hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.
