Criminal

  • Jeffrey Howard Herschlip, 59, Oroville, pleaded guilty Sept. 27 to attempted second-degree extortion (lesser included to first-degree extortion). Herschlip was sentenced to 364 days in jail with 330 days suspended for two years, and fined $500 for the Aug. 20, 2014 crime.
  • Tiffany Pauline Irey, 36, Omak, pleaded guilty Sept. 27 to second-degree escape and possession of a weapon by an inmate. Those crimes occurred June 30. In a second case, Irey pleaded guilty Sept. 27 to POCS (methamphetamine). That crime occurred Sept. 12, 2015. Irey was sentenced to 48 months (four years) in prison and fined a total of $600.
  • The court found probable cause to charge Allen Francis Ballensky, 61, Fairview, Mont., with possession of a stolen motor vehicle. The crime allegedly occurred Sept. 26 at the Oroville Port of Entry.
  • The court found probable cause to charge Chad Allen Mahan, 23, Omak, with second-degree burglary, first-degree theft, second-degree malicious mischief and second-degree possession of stolen property. The crimes allegedly occurred Sept. 25.
  • The court found probable cause to charge Joseph Darwin Cormier, 25, Okanogan, with second-degree burglary, first-degree theft, second-degree malicious mischief and third-degree escape. The crimes allegedly occurred Sept. 25.

District Court

  • Dwight Eldon Backherms, 53, Oroville, guilty of third-degree DWLS. Backherms received a 90-day suspended sentence and $423.
  • Eric Andre Bakken, 52, Omak, guilty of DUI. Bakken was sentenced to 364 days in jail with 349 days suspended, and fined $1,981.
  • Evan Lee Bale, 23, Oroville, guilty of fourth-degree assault. Bale was sentenced to 364 days in jail with 357 days suspended, and fined $988.
  • Carlos Banuelos Rodriguez, 50, Riverside, guilty of DUI, operating a vehicle without an ignition interlock device, third-degree DWLS and refusing to comply with a police officer. Banuelos Rodriguez was sentenced to 364 days in jail with 184 days suspended, and fined a total of $2,986.
  • Michaella Jean Boyd, 33, Omak, guilty of second-degree criminal trespassing. Boyd received a 90-day suspended sentence and fined $413.
  • Maximo Calvario, 36, Oroville, guilty of DUI. Calvario was sentenced to 364 days in jail with 314 days suspended, and fined $2,688.
  • Matthew Russell Carden Jr., 29, Omak, guilty on two counts of third-degree theft. Carden was sentenced to 364 days in jail with 334 days suspended.
  • Brandy Nicole Chambers, 25, Tonasket, had a fourth-degree assault charge dismissed. Chambers was fined $200.
  • Ronald Ruffie Chaska Jr., 38, Tonasket, had a fourth-degree assault charge dismissed.
  • Jesus Churape Reynaga, 18, had a third-degree DWLS charge dismissed.
  • Jose Eduardo Cocino, 23, Tonasket, guilty of disorderly conduct. Cocino was sentenced to 90 days in jail with 83 days suspended, and fined $363.
  • Joseph Darwin Cormier, 25, Okanogan, had two charges dismissed: first-degree criminal trespassing and interfering with reporting (DV).
