SAN RAMON, CALIF., Sept 6, 2012 – Chevron Products Company, a Chevron U.S.A. Inc. division, maker of the Delo® brand of technologically advanced engine oils, lubricants and coolants, today announced the video voting portion of its long-running Delo Tractor Restoration Competition will begin on September 10, 2012. As part of the Delo Tractor Restoration Competition, each entrant submits a 2-3 minute video that highlights the restoration process and the finished project. These videos are used by the event judges to evaluate restoration projects and are also entered into a competition of their own.

The video competition is open to all 2012 Delo Tractor Restoration Competition entrants – not just finalists – and is designed to engage the families, friends and community of each entrant, allowing for the public to show support for their favorite projects. Team members from the winning submission in the video competition will receive a Kindle Fire®*, while runners-up will receive a $100 gift card**.

“So many people support these kids during the restoration of their tractors, that we wanted to give them a voice in the competition,” said Channing Reeder, indirect channel marketing specialist, Chevron Products Company. “That is what this video vote is designed to do. On September 10, 2012, we encourage the public to vote for their favorite video, by going to: www.ChevronDelo.com.”

Event Finalists Announced September 24

On September 24th at 6PM ET (5CT, 4MT, 3PT), the 12 finalists for the 2012 Delo Tractor Restoration Competition will be announced on the events Facebook page (www.Facebook.com/DeloTRC). These teams will be invited to Indianapolis to compete for the Grand Prize during this year’s FFA Convention & Expo.

2012 Delo Tractor Restoration Competition Changes

A key change in 2012 is the opening of the event to non-FFA members for the first time in the program’s history. In 2012, the Delo Tractor Restoration Competition will set aside four of its 12 finalist seats for restorations not affiliated with the FFA. The remaining eight finalist spots will be reserved for FFA projects.

The award package for the 2012 event has also been updated, with the Grand Champion receiving a $10,000 prize, double the amount of previous years. Reserve Champion will now receive $5,000 and third place honors will be awarded $3,000.

About the Delo Tractor Restoration Competition

Since 1997 the Delo Tractor Restoration Competition has rewarded the determination, mechanical skills and business savvy of high school aged tractor restoration experts from around the country. Through the restoration of an antique tractor, participants develop skills applicable to the modern business world. The skills needed for success in the program – equipment maintenance, teamwork, project management, budgeting, planning and marketing – help develop the participants into future leaders in the agriculture community.

All entrants to the Delo Tractor Restoration Competition are required to submit a workbook detailing the entire tractor restoration process, from mechanical overhauls of the engine, transmission and auxiliary and ancillary systems, to the external appearance of the tractors. The 12 finalists (8 FFA entrants and 4 open) are invited to the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis to present their projects to a panel of five professional tractor restorers. Projects are graded on restoration process, results and documentation, as well as oral presentation and safety precautions.
