OROVILLE – The Oroville Police Department is reporting residents have sighted a cougar and possibly a cub in the Highland Drive/Summit Drive/Deerpath area.
The police department is advising residents to keep an eye out for the cougar, to be particularly watchful of small children and to keep their pets close to home.
“We have made contact with the school district office to inform them of the situation since they do have a bus route up that way,” said Oroville Police Chief Clay Warnstaff, adding that his department has made contact with the state Department of Fish and Wildlife as well.
Warnstaff asks that if a cougar is sighted to be sure and inform his department as soon as possible at (509) 476-2913.
