TACOMA – The most painful place of all to finish at the state tournament is second, no matter how deserved the accolades for doing so might be. Tonasket’s Austin Booker was close enough to a state championship to taste it, leading 4-3 heading into the third and final period of his state title [...]
Note: updated information for second session, added photos to gallery below. TACOMA – Here’s the run-down of how local wrestlers have fared on the first day of state tournament action. CHELAN – Eight Tonasket wrestlers, including five automatic qualifiers, survived Saturday’s District 6/7 Regional Tournament at Chelan to earn spots at this weekend’s state 1A finals at Mat Classic XXV at the Tacoma Dome. Tonasket’s girls basketball team had a loss turned into a victory after Omak had to forfeit Tuesday’s game that was critical to both squads’ playoff chances.
The Tigers wrapped up their first district playoff berth since the 2006-7 season with Tuesday’s 67-58 victory at Omak.
Tonasket High School’s Junior Class will be hosting Donkey Basketball as a fundraiser, Feb. 7.
Tonasket went nose to nose with the Caribou Trail League favorites for most of the night before Chelan won four of the final five matches to defeat the Tigers 43-30.
