TONASKET — Congressional Representative Dan Newhouse appeared at a VA Health and Benefits Resource Fair held at Tonasket High School from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 28. Newhouse was accompanied by Army Veteran Ryan McDonald, District Representative assigned to assisting veterans.
MOLSON – The Sixth Annual Molson Quilt Show and Sale, held last Saturday at the Molson Grange Hall, featured 64 quilts made over the year by the Highland Stitchers, and eight vendors selling everything from fabric to finished quilts and handmade baskets, cards and books.
TONASKET – Mayor Pro Tem-Tem Jensen Sackman officiated over the Aug. 22 City Council meeting, as Mayor Patrick Plumb has moved to Tacoma and Mayor Pro-Tem Jill Ritter was unable to attend the meeting. Sackman, a 19-year-old council member, was elected Mayor Pro Tem-Tem at the previous city council meeting Aug. 8.
CHESAW — The Hot August Nights car show has grown from eight cars parked across the street from the Chesaw Tavern, to 85 cars in it’s eighth year. Entries came from as far as Moses Lake, the Tri Cities and Vancouver, Washington.
TONASKET — The Tonasket Community Pool could be open for business as early as Saturday, July 22, with an inspection by the Department of Health scheduled for Tuesday, July 18.

NORTH COUNTY — Tonasket WinterFest takes place this weekend, with businesses and organizations gearing up for events Thursday, Dec. 1 through Saturday, Dec. 3. Oroville’s Community Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony takes place on Saturday, as well, starting at 5 p.m.
