Travelers can expect delays due to crack sealing

OKANOGAN COUNTY – The Washington State Department of Transportation says travelers can expect delays in several locations within the county.

Drivers can expect up to 20 minuted delays with flaggers where crews are doing crack sealing on SR17, SR 20 and US97. On US97, between Mileposts 260 and 286 near Brewster at SR173, the work will be on Monday only, during daylight hours. On US 97, Tonasket north between Mileposts 314 and 326, expect delays on Tuesday and Wednesday during daylight hours. On SR20, Tonasket east (MP 261-266) and Loup Loup Pass (MP 209-227) workers will be crack sealing during daylight hours on Thursday only.

In this $15.5 million project, Central Washington Asphalt is resurfacing 238 miles of 10 state highways in five counties of North Central Washington. This project also updates safety features including new striping, centerline rumble strips and reflective pavement markers, along with paving several intersections, and addressing ADA (Americans with Disability Act) concerns on SR 155 in Grand Coulee and on US 97 in Tonasket. Work began March 17 and should be complete by October.

There is also paving taking place in the Omak area on SR 155/SR 215 (MP 79-81 and 0-6.25). The paving is taking place Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., expect lane shifts, shoulder closures and pedestrian detours where crews are upgrading sidewalks and repairing drainage issues in Omak.

In this $3.2 million project, Granite Construction is upgrading sidewalks to ADA standards, and paving SR 215 from Omak through Okanogan as well as the SR 155 Spur in Omak. Work began April 21 and should be complete in early September.
