TONASKET – The Tonasket boys’ basketball team allowed 67 points to an opponent twice last week in their battle to play a complete game.

On Tuesday, Jan. 5, the Tigers lost in Okanogan 67-49. Junior Corbin Moser led the team in scoring with 12 points while junior Colton Ayers had 10 points and sophomore John Stedtfeld had seven.

“Our turnovers were converted into easy layins by Okanogan,” Glenn Braman, head coach, said. “We played better in the second half, but we are still looking for a whole game. The score was within two points for the second half.”

On Saturday, Jan. 9, the Tigers lost at home to Cashmere 67-41. Ayers led in points with 13 while Stedtfeld had 11 and junior Zach Neal had five.

“We haven’t been starting out very well and have been digging ourselves a pretty sizeable hole,” Braman said. “Until we quit turning the ball over like wildfire, we will continue to have a hard time keeping the scores close.”

Sophomore Damon Halvorsen said he thinks the team is playing better as a whole and running their plays better.

“Our team’s improving as the season goes one and we’re getting more positive,” Halvorsen added.

As of press time, the Tigers (0-4, 2-10) had not yet played away against Lake Roosevelt on Tuesday, Jan. 12. Their next game is on Saturday, Jan. 16 in Cascade.

“We’ve got four away games in a row and we’re still waiting for that time when we play a whole game,” Braman said. “That’s what I’m waiting for: to compete and play a whole game, win or lose.”
