TONASKET – Over $14,000 was paid out among the top 10 riders at the 6th Annual Jeremy Ives Open Bull Riding Memorial, held at the Tonasket Rodeo Grounds on Friday, June 4 and Saturday, June 5 in conjunction with the 75th Tonasket Founders Day Weekend.

“The Friday night crowd was down, I think due to the rain that fell right up until the first ride,” Paul Vickers said. “Our Saturday night crowd was the best we’ve ever seen. It was a big success.”

Vickers said 39 cowboys rode 25 percent of the bulls on June 4 and 20 percent of the bulls on June 5.

“My cowboys were better than I thought they were going to be,” he added. “We had riders from all over the country.”

The total amount paid out to the cowboys was $14,850. Vickers said with this total, he believes the Jeremy Ives Open Bull Riding Memorial is one of the biggest bull riding events in the North West.

“I’d like to thank the community and the businesses for all their support,” Vickers said. “Without them, we couldn’t put this event on.”
