Leonard M. Schweitzer died on March 9, 2010 at the age of 66 after a long battle with cancer.

Leonard was born in Seattle to Nick and Susan Schweitzer on Dec. 29, 1943. Leonard graduated from Queen Anne High School in Seattle in 1962. Leonard lived in Bakersfield, Calif., Ellensburg, Wash., and in most recent years Tonasket. Leonard worked mostly in the meat processing industry. He worked for Shocky’s in Ellensburg and owned and operated his own food distributorship, Double S Meats, in Tonasket. Leonard enjoyed spending time with his family in the outdoors hiking, hunting, fishing and four wheeling.

Leonard is survived by his wife, Marion Schweitzer; three brothers: Jack Schweitzer, Dan Schweitzer and Tom Schweitzer; one sister, Rose Mcmeekin; six children: Nick Schweitzer, Matt Schweitzer, Jennifer Schweitzer, Carmen Pepple, Erika Pepple and Gavin Pratt; and nine grandchildren: Lucas Schweitzer, Lane Schweitzer, Lilly Schweitzer, Kaden Pepple, Kallen Pepple, Rilee Heist, Raegan Heist, Holland Pratt and Savannah Pratt; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held at Our Lady of Fattima Catholic Church in Seattle on March 15, 2010. There will be a church mass dedicated to Leonard at the Tonasket Catholic Church on March 19, 2010 at 1 p.m. with a memorial service at the Tonasket Eagles to follow. Leonard will be greatly missed by all that knew him and all are welcome to attend.
