Celebrating 20 years
OROVILLE – A surprise party potluck in honor of Gary DeVon’s 20 years of service for the Gazette-Tribune will be held tonight, Thursday, Sept. 27, at 6 p.m. at the Oroville American Legion. Come celebrate and congratulate Gary on his outstanding 20 years of service.
Oil Painting Class
RIVERSIDE – The Okanogan County Artist Association will be hosting an oil painting class, taught by Robert Walton, Oct. 17 through 19 at the Mount Olive Grange in Riverside. Oroville MOPS
OROVILLE – MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers and will meet the first and third Tuesday’s of the month. First Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. and third Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Meetings will be held at the Oroville Free Methodist Church. All mothers with one or more children under six years are welcome to attend.
Johnny Thorp Scholarship Ride
OROVILLE – The Johnny Thorp III Scholarship ride is being held on Saturday, Oct. 6. Volunteers are needed to help, to donate prizes to the ride and to participate in the ride. The adult high hand will be $200 and low hand will be $100, cost is $5 per hand; the more you play the better your chances are of winning. New Adventure Playgroup
OROVILLE – This Adventure Playgroup is designed to be a regular socialization and playtime for children (0 – 5 yrs.) and their parents. Weekly playdates on Mondays (10 a.m. to 12 p.m.) will happen two to three times a month and will meet behind the Oroville Public Library. Barter Faire Booth
TONASKET – The Community Cultural Center (CCC) would like to have a booth at the Family Barter Faire so we’ll be selling raffle tickets for a quilt made by Jackie Chambers. Tickets cost $1. Also they will be selling tickets for the “50/ 50 split”. The winner will be drawn on Sunday at the Faire and will get 50 percent of the money taken in. Fall Book Sale
OROVILLE – The annual Fall Book Sale at the Oroville Library is on Friday, Oct. 5 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 6 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Paperbacks cost $0.25 and Hardcovers are $0.50. All proceeds benefit the library. Please drop used book donations to the library by Oct. 4.
Lake Osoyoos Association
OROVILLE – The revived Lake Osoyoos Association meets Thursday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. at the Okanogan Borderlands Museum (a.k.a. “The Depot”) in Oroville to adopt Vision and Mission Statements, accept nominations for officers and get a report on the Osoyoos Lake Water Science Forum.
Screening clinic
OMAK – A free screening clinic will be held on Saturday, Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Omak Medical Clinic, 916 Koala Dr., to help identify children in our area who can benefit from specialized care available at Shriners Hospitals for Children.
